AI Receptionist for Appliance Repair — Full Setup in Taskrol

Watch on YouTube

After checkout, open Taskrol as the company owner. If you already have Voice & SMS and a number, your 50 AI minutes apply there; otherwise finish phone profile fields if prompted and buy your one trial number (A2P stays locked). Then complete the steps below — AI uses the same company and technician hours and ZIP areas when it offers visit times.

  1. Company hours and service area (Settings → Schedule & Area)

Set the company work schedule — which days and hours you accept jobs. Add the company service area as the ZIP codes you actually cover. If company ZIPs are left empty, Taskrol treats the company as covering everywhere, and the AI may offer slots outside your real territory.

  2. Technician hours and areas (Team Management → My Company)

For each technician (including yourself if you take jobs), open their card and set Work schedule and Service area. A technician area is usually a subset of the company area. If a technician's ZIPs are empty, they are treated as available across all company ZIPs (or everywhere if the company area is also empty). If a technician has no working days, they cannot receive booking slots even when the ZIP matches.

  3. Turn on AI Agent in the Taskrol app

Buy a number if you still need one. Enable AI Agent and choose which numbers it answers. Set the AI schedule separately — that is when AI answers first, not your job visit hours. Outside that window, the usual company answer mode applies. Turn on auto-booking only after company and technician hours and areas are filled in.

  4. How AI books

On a call, the agent checks the caller's ZIP, finds open slots from the overlap of company and technician schedules plus existing jobs, and — when auto-booking is on — creates the job. Recordings and transcripts stay in Calls; anything that needs a person goes to the follow-up inbox.

Need more AI after the trial? Buy a monthly AI Agent pack. To keep a trial-only number permanently, add Voice & SMS within 50 days.

FAQ

What do I get for $10?
A one-time AI Operator Trial with 50 minutes of AI voice. If you do not have Voice & SMS yet, you can also buy one business phone number in Taskrol (held 50 days). If you already have telephony and a number, the minutes apply there. Separate from CRM plans and monthly AI packs.
How do I prepare the company so AI can answer and book correctly?
AI uses your company and technician schedules and ZIP service areas when it offers visit times. Fill those in before you rely on booking. 1) In Settings → Schedule & Area, set company work hours and the ZIP codes you cover. Leave company ZIPs empty and Taskrol treats you as covering everywhere — AI may then offer slots outside your real territory. 2) In Team Management → My Company, set each technician's (or your own) Work schedule and Service area; empty tech ZIPs mean all company ZIPs (or everywhere if the company area is empty too); no working days means no slots for that tech. 3) In the app, enable AI Agent, pick numbers, set when AI answers first, and only then turn on auto-booking. On a call the agent checks ZIP, finds overlapping free slots, and can create the job; recordings stay in Calls, unresolved items in the follow-up inbox.
What if I skip schedules or service areas?
Empty company ZIPs → AI treats the company as working everywhere. Missing technician schedules → nobody can receive a slot. AI can still take calls with empty hours/areas, but bookings will be wrong or too broad.
Where do I change agent settings?
In the Taskrol mobile app (company owner): enable the agent, pick numbers, AI answer schedule, and auto-booking. Web Subscription → AI Agent is for buying the trial or monthly packs only. Company hours and ZIPs are in Settings → Schedule & Area. Technician hours and ZIPs are in Team Management → My Company.
I already have Voice & SMS — can I still buy the $10 trial?
Yes. The trial is for testing the AI agent with 50 minutes. An active telephony subscription does not block checkout; minutes are applied to your existing company number when possible.
What happens when the AI minutes run out?
Without Voice & SMS: AI and inbound calling turn off; the number can still be held until the 50-day reservation ends. With Voice & SMS already active: calling stays on your plan; buy an AI Agent pack for more AI minutes. The $10 trial cannot be purchased again on that company.
How long is the number reserved?
Up to 50 days from payment without a Voice & SMS subscription. If you add Voice & SMS during that window, the number stays with your account. Otherwise it is released after 50 days. If you already had Voice & SMS, this hold window does not remove your paid minutes early.
Does the $10 trial include SMS or A2P registration?
No. Company SMS branding and A2P / 10DLC registration require an active paid Voice & SMS plan. The trial is for trying the AI operator on voice calls.
Can I buy the trial again?
Yes after a trial expires and the number is released (no Voice & SMS). If the trial was used with Voice & SMS (converted), buy a monthly AI Agent pack instead — the $10 trial is one-time per company in that case.
