Migration
Switch to Taskrol without losing your customers
The product can look right and still feel scary to switch. This page is the practical path — what you can bring over, what stays manual, and how to cut over without stranding open jobs.
Migration is assisted, not a silent one-click import of every system. We help you plan the export and cutover. Email [email protected] with your export if you want a hand.
Solo stays free forever for one technician and one company. Paid plans include a 7-day trial.
What you can usually bring over
- Customers — names, phones, emails, service addresses from CSV or CRM export.
- Service / appliance notes — model, serial, and prior visit notes when your export includes them (or you keep them in a sheet).
- Inventory lists — part numbers, descriptions, quantities, and locations you already track.
- Open job context — we help you recreate active work in Taskrol rather than stranding tickets mid-week.
What is not automatic
- Every historical invoice PDF and payment ledger from the old system.
- Third-party integrations unique to your current CRM.
- Perfect one-shot mapping of every custom field without a review pass.
- Turning off the old account before techs know Quick Job and inventory.
Recommended cutover
- Start free on Solo (or a paid 7-day trial) and set company, techs, ZIP coverage, and van stock basics.
- Export customers (and inventory if you have it) from your current system.
- Load essentials into Taskrol; spot-check a few real addresses and appliances.
- Run a dry day: one tech books and invoices in Taskrol while the old system stays live.
- Pick a cutover morning for new jobs; finish old open jobs in the previous CRM or recreate them.
- Cancel the old subscription only after a quiet week with no stranded tickets.

Frequently asked questions
Is there a fully automatic import from Housecall Pro, Jobber, or Workiz?
Not as a one-click magic import for every field. We use assisted migration: you export what your current system allows, we help map customers and history into Taskrol, and you cut over when the team is ready. Do not expect a silent overnight conversion of every open job without planning.
Can I import customers?
Yes. Customer names, phones, emails, and service addresses from CSV or your current CRM export are the first thing we load. That is the highest-value migrate step for most shops.
Do jobs and invoices come over automatically?
Open jobs are usually recreated in Taskrol rather than silently converted ticket-by-ticket. Historical invoice PDFs and full payment ledgers from the old system are not a perfect one-shot import — keep the old account readable for a while if you need old paperwork. New invoices go out from Taskrol after cutover.
Can I run Taskrol in parallel with my old CRM?
Yes — and you should. Run a dry day with one tech booking and invoicing in Taskrol while the old system stays live. Cut over new jobs on a chosen morning; finish leftover open tickets in the previous CRM or recreate them. Cancel the old subscription only after a quiet week.
Who helps with migration, and how long does it take?
Email [email protected] with your export if you want a hand. Solo operators often stand up Taskrol in a weekend plus a few days of parallel running. Multi-tech shops usually plan one to two weeks: export, configure, train techs, then cut over. Timing depends on how clean your export is.
What if I only have spreadsheets?
That is often easier than a messy CRM export. Bring customer names, phones, addresses, and any appliance notes you already keep. We help you load the essentials, then build history going forward inside Taskrol.
Will my technicians need retraining?
Yes — plan a short walkthrough for Quick Job, parts on the job, and the phone schedule/map. Video guides on the site cover the daily workflow. Do not cut over every tech on the same morning without a dry run.
