AI Receptionist for Appliance Repair — Full Setup in Taskrol

Buy a number, turn on the AI agent, choose who answers first, set hours, voice and instructions, then give it your service area and technician coverage.

Missed calls become jobs for the next company on the list. This walkthrough sets up the Taskrol AI Operator end to end: buy a phone number, switch the agent on, decide whether your team or the AI picks up first, set the hours it is allowed to work, choose the voice and response delay, and write custom instructions for the jobs you do and don't take.

Then give it the coverage it needs — company hours and ZIP codes, and the same for each technician — so it only offers times someone can actually run. Auto-booking stays optional; you stay in control of how jobs are created.

Every call you miss while you're under a dryer becomes a job for the next company on the list. Let's put an AI on that phone line. Once your AI Operator trial or an AI Agent pack is active on your subscription, everything else happens inside the app. Start in the app and open Settings, up in the top right.

Then go to Voice Integration -- this is where your agent gets a phone line of its own. Search the available numbers, pick the one you want, assign it to your company, and buy it. That becomes the line the AI answers. Now open AI Settings.

Your agent is already built and ready to go. The switch up top isn't a setup step -- it's just how you turn it on or off whenever you want. First decision: who picks up. People first rings your team, and the AI only takes over on no answer, after the seconds you set.

Or choose AI first and it answers immediately. Then the schedule -- and read this one carefully. These are the hours the agent answers first, ahead of your team. Outside them, calls fall back to the routing mode you just picked.

Pick the voice your customers will hear, and how long it waits before speaking. Too short and it talks over people mid-sentence. And custom instructions -- this is where it stops sounding generic. Tell it what you do and what you don't, like: we don't service Samsung ice makers.

Now the part people skip. To book real visits, the agent needs your coverage. Under My Companies, set your working hours and the ZIP codes you actually serve -- leave the ZIP list empty and it treats that as everywhere. If you run a team, do the same for every technician in Team Management -- their own hours, their own ZIP codes.

The agent then offers times from whoever actually covers that address. That's the setup. From here the agent answers, captures the appliance and the problem, and puts the visit on your calendar. You still own the day.

Drag out a block on the calendar and mark it as time off. Add a note so the team knows why, and save. Those hours stop being offered -- by you or by the agent. And when the day changes, move work between technicians right on the board.

Set it up once, and the calls you can't take stop turning into somebody else's jobs. Taskrol dot com.
