Taskrol feature
Field Service Technician Payroll and Time Tracking
Pay each technician the way that fits the role: a share of completed-job margin or an hourly rate based on recorded work sessions.
A service company may want a strong closer paid from margin while an assistant or trainee earns an hourly rate. Taskrol lets the owner choose one pay mode for each technician instead of forcing the whole team into one formula.
Closed-job results and recorded work sessions roll into one payroll view, giving the owner and technician a clearer calculation without rebuilding job totals and time notes in a spreadsheet. Taskrol supports the operational calculation; it does not replace payroll tax, accounting, or employment-law advice.
Technician Pay in Appliance Repair CRM — Hourly or % of Margin
Set up a technician once: the hours online booking and the AI agent may fill, the ZIP codes he covers, and how he's paid — an hourly rate or tiered percentage of margin — then read the payroll number straight off the report.
How it works
- Choose the technician's pay mode. Set either a margin percentage or an hourly rate for that person; the two modes do not run at the same time.
- Complete the service work. Margin-based pay uses eligible closed jobs, while hourly technicians record work sessions with the job timer.
- Review team pay. Use the payroll and statistics view to see the calculation behind what each technician earned.
Margin-based pay
Calculate a technician's share from the company's job-margin logic after payments, parts, and tax are accounted for on closed work.
Hourly pay from job sessions
Multiply the technician's rate by time recorded on assigned jobs instead of reconstructing hours from a notebook or text messages.
Practical timer controls
Start and stop a work session on the job; On My Way or ETA can start tracking, and completing the job stops and fixes the result.
Clearer conversations with the team
Show the jobs, hours, rate, or margin calculation behind the number and reduce arguments about what is owed.
Frequently asked questions
Can different technicians use different pay methods?
Yes. The owner can choose margin-based pay for one technician and an hourly rate for another. Each technician uses one active mode at a time.
How does hourly technician pay work?
The technician records work sessions on assigned jobs with start and stop controls. For eligible closed work, Taskrol applies the technician's hourly rate to the accumulated time.
Does every technician need to use the timer?
No. The timer is needed for technicians paid by the hour. A technician paid from job margin does not need hourly sessions for that calculation.
Is this GPS tracking?
No. Taskrol records work sessions associated with a service job; it is not continuous location surveillance or GPS tracking of every minute.
Does Taskrol replace payroll or accounting software?
No. Taskrol provides the operational pay calculation from jobs and work sessions. Your business remains responsible for payroll processing, taxes, classifications, and legal compliance.
